About this Event

Doug Harris Media, the Office of University Development and Alumni Relations, the Department of African American Studies, and the Cal Black Alumni Association present the premiere of Epicenter - The Struggle to Bring Black Studies to Higher Education in The Bay Area, a documentary film by Doug and Douglas Harris.
The film takes a close examination of the hard fought struggle to bring Black Studies programs to the Bay Area communities of Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco. Epicenter was produced and directed by the filmmaking team of Doug and Douglas Harris, and features a host of individuals from the respective colleges who led the way in organizing the important struggles for Black Studies in higher education here in the Bay Area. The film is part of the Cal Alumni Profiles Series produced by Doug Harris Media in conjunction with The Spencer Group.

Join us for a Q&A discussion after the film with Doug and Douglas Harris and Brian Spencer, moderated by African American Studies professor Ula Taylor.
