Welcome to an exciting evening at Liberty Hall at the Revolutionary War Visitor Center at Camden! Join us on March 12, 2026 at 6:00 PM (Eastern Time). Dr. Stephen Humphreys and Dr. Bill Griswold will share preliminary Insights from the 2026 Field Season at Historic Camden. Get ready to dive into the latest discoveries and findings from our recent field season of the AVAR Conflict Archaeology School. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the rich history of Camden and engage with fellow history enthusiasts.

About Dr. Stephen Humphreys
Stephen co-founded AVAR in 2016 and has served as CEO since that time. He is the PI of the AVAR Conflict Archaeology School-Camden and Finding Medina Projects, has directed fieldwork on numerous Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency recoveries, and serves on the Advisory Board of the Center for Integrative Research in Conflict Archaeology. He is a National Geographic Explorer with experience digging and directing projects in Israel, Jordan, Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Sicily, and the USA.
Stephen holds a Ph.D. in archaeology from Durham University as well as an MA in Archaeology and Biblical Studies and an MA in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to his graduate studies he was a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
About Dr. Bill Griswold:
William A. Griswold, Ph.D. RPA, is a retired NPS archaeologist. Before retiring in 2024, Griswold spent 31 years with the Northeast Archaeological Resources Program (NARP) in Lowell, MA. During his career, Griswold served as Archaeological Advisor to many of the National Parks within the Northeast Region and retired as the Regional ARPA Coordinator. Griswold also led several battlefield-related archaeological projects at Saratoga National Historical Park and Jumonville Glen (part of Fort Necessity National Battlefield) as well as serving as a Scientific Recovery Expert (SRE) on a DPAA project in the UK. Griswold holds a MA (1990) and Ph.D. (1992) in Anthropology/Archaeology from Harvard University.
