Over the course of pregnancy, the human body goes through more change than many bodies experience in their lifetime. Many of these changes we can observe, such as changing shape of the body, increased curves in the spine, and shift in gait. But many of these are not as clear and still impact the yoga practice, such as hormonal shifts, increased blood volume, and structural fluctuations in the pelvis. As yoga teachers and facilitators, we need to be able to support those changes with confidence and empower our pregnant clients. During this training, participants will learn about
● The anatomy and physiology of the pre and post natal body
● Why certain modifications and recommendations are made
● How to safely guide practitioners in a public class as well as a class designed specifically for their population and understanding the yoga teacher’s scope of practice
● Common ailments in the pre and post natal body and how to support them in practice
● Making yogic themes accessible to this population
● How to empower practitioners and provide an environment of inclusivity
● Understanding the impact of privilege in pregnancy
● Practice Teaching
This training will be led by Kristen Nice, ERYT 500, RPYT, Doula
Times:
Friday: 5:00-8:00pm
Saturday & Sunday: 9:00-4:00pm w/ hour lunch break
