Pre-EMT: Emergency Trauma Care and Medical Preparedness

In today's world, knowing how to recognize and manage life-threatening injuries is an essential life skill, just like CPR.

Built upon the principles and science established by the Stop the Bleed initiative, this training empowers you to become an immediate responder in emergencies involving injuries from accidents or violence.

Through hands-on instruction, you'll familiarize yourself with modern lifesaving tools such as tourniquets, pressure dressings and hemostatic agents, and learn how to properly use or improvise them in dynamic situations.

Beyond trauma care, the course also covers essential skills for handling non-emergency medical situations such as applying splints for fractures and managing illnesses when traditional healthcare resources are unavailable or overwhelmed. Whether you're faced with a civil resource breakdown or extended situations where professional medical help is inaccessible, you'll gain the confidence to assist yourself and others effectively.

No prior medical or first aid training or expereince is necessary

• Age: 12+ (Minors MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian participant) PLEASE NOTE: while this presentation does not include overly graphic images or content, the subject matter deals with traumatic injuries - DISCRETION IS ADVISED - if you want your younger kids to attend.
• Dress: Please wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty/messy. You, and your clothing, will be exposed to washable fake blood during our simulation phase

Dr. C. Thomas Brophy is a local physician who is well know for educating the public as well as assisting with public health emergencies affecting our local communities. With advanced degrees & specialized training in Emergency Medicine, Neuroscience, and Addiction Medicine, his expertise in these fields has resulted in over 200 public education seminars on a wide variety of topics as well as the development of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for various companies and health systems.

With certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS), as well as military training in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and 20 years of experience as an emergency medicine physician working at Level 1 trauma centers, Dr. Brophy is able to combine his love for emergency medicine, education, and personal preparedness into education and trainings designed for those who wish to be more self reliant and well-prepared.

In addition, his latest company Dr. Prepper Medical LLC provides high-end comprehensive medical preparedness solutions and education to civilians from a wide range of demographics, and strives to empower every American citizen with the knowledge, skillsets, and quality medical supplies to help ensure survival in SHTF situations where access to help has been severed.

He is a regular contributor to KDKA (radio and TV), The Tribune Review, and is consulted frequently by peers and colleagues on a wide variety of topics. He has received various honors and awards for his work, including a Proclamation Award from Allegheny County in 2017. In 2018 he was honored to be designated as a “Hampton Hero” by his home district of Hampton Township due to his military background as well as his work on educating the local Hampton youth on addiction prevention and making good decisions.

His knowledge of these topics combined with his skill in public speaking has earned him praise from many leaders in both education and healthcare. He and his wife have 3 children; ages 16, 11, and 9. As a local family they are dedicated to making the world a better place, starting right here in their home community.
