Sunday, 31st May
Join us for a special day of collective practice dedicated to peace, compassion, and the awakening of wisdom — both within ourselves and in the world around us.
In times of uncertainty and conflict, coming together in spiritual community becomes especially powerful. According to Buddhist teachings, the state of the outer world is deeply connected to the state of our minds. By cultivating compassion, loving kindness, and wisdom within, we actively contribute to the creation of peace beyond ourselves. When we gather with a shared intention, the positive energy generated is greatly amplified, benefiting not only our own minds but all beings everywhere.
This day includes a morning practice open to everyone, as well as a more in-depth afternoon session of traditional prayers and practices especially recommended for Buddhist students. You are welcome to join either session individually or attend the full day.

About the Event
Morning Session | 10:00 – 12:30
Prayers for World Peace ~ Meditations on Compassion & Loving Kindness and Medicine Buddha Practice
The morning session is open to all and offers an accessible entry point into meditation and prayer. Through guided meditations on compassion and loving kindness, we gently cultivate a more open and caring heart. We will also engage in the Medicine Buddha practice, a powerful method for healing — supporting physical and mental well-being, removing obstacles, and bringing relief to those who are suffering, whether ourselves, loved ones, or beings throughout the world.
Afternoon Session | 14:00 – 16:30
Saka Dawa Celebration ~ Recitations, Prostrations & Prayers
In the afternoon, we celebrate Saka Dawa, one of the most significant and sacred times in the Buddhist calendar. Saka Dawa commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Shakyamuni Buddha — all said to have occurred during this auspicious period. Because of this, the karmic results of our actions — both positive and negative — are considered to be greatly multiplied.
This session includes more traditional and in-depth practices, and is especially recommended for those familiar with Buddhist teachings or engaged in ongoing study and practice within the FPMT tradition.
During this session, we will:
Recite the names of Manjushri, embodying wisdom and clarity
Perform prostrations to the 35 Confession Buddhas, a powerful practice for purification
Conclude with the King of Prayers, dedicating the merit for the benefit of all beings
For more background and inspiration on how to make the most of this auspicious time, you can read further here: https://fpmt.org/edu-news/advice-for-practice-on-saka-dawa-duchen-2025/
Whether you join for one session or the whole day, you are very welcome. Together, we create the causes for healing, harmony, and lasting peace — within and beyond.
