Faith, Compassion, and Action” with Eric Gonzalez.
About this Event
Unitarian Universalism calls us to affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person and to act with justice, equity, and compassion in human relations. Around the world, refugees are fleeing war, persecution, and disaster—seeking safety, dignity, and hope. This presentation explores why supporting refugees is a moral and spiritual imperative for Unitarian Universalists, grounded in our values of interdependence and beloved community.
We will give special attention to those affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine, examining the human impact of displacement and the urgent needs facing Ukrainian refugees and internally displaced families. Participants will learn practical ways individuals and congregations can help—through humanitarian aid, refugee sponsorship, advocacy, and partnership with trusted organizations — transforming compassion into meaningful action. Together, we will reflect on how welcoming refugees strengthens not only those seeking refuge, but our shared humanity.
