About this Event

This full day anesthesia course focuses on building safer, more structured anesthetic practice in small animal medicine. The morning reviews premedication and induction protocols, followed by a hands on session covering anesthesia machine function, circle and Bain systems, and systematic leak testing and troubleshooting. Airway management and endotracheal intubation principles are reviewed in a structured, practical framework. The afternoon is case based and focuses on monitoring interpretation and management of common anesthetic problems including hypotension, ECG interpretation, hypoxemia, hypothermia, and an introduction to capnography.


Instructor: Dr. Graeme Doodnaught, dipl. ACVAA

Cost: Registration is free for being part of the VetStrategy network

Travel/accommodation can be covered by attendee CE funds if approved by PM

Capacity: Exclusive to VetStrategy practices. Limited to ten veterinarian-vet tech pairs per day (20 total participants).

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Design practical premedication and induction protocols tailored to patient and procedural risk.
  2. Perform a complete anesthesia machine check, including leak testing and troubleshooting of circle and Bain systems.
  3. Describe a structured approach to safe endotracheal intubation and confirmation of tube placement.
  4. Interpret key monitoring parameters including blood pressure, ECG, and capnography in a systematic way.
  5. Apply a practical problem solving framework to common anesthetic complications such as hypotension, hypoxemia, and hypothermia.

How to Register

To register for the event, please enter the name, contact information, and food restrictions of the veterinarian and vet tech from your practice who are planning to attend.

The registration system is set up so that 1 registration = 2 participants.

If a veterinarian / vet tech pair isn't available from your practice, solo registrations as well as any combination of clinical roles are welcome.
