📍 In the footsteps of the Poznań Uprising June 1956
70 years ago, on June 28, 1956, workers from Poznań factories rose up against poor working conditions, low wages, and difficult living standards. What began as protests, quickly turned into a broader uprising with national significance.
The events of Poznań June 1956 became the first major workers’ rebellion in the history of the Polish People’s Republic and remain one of the key moments in modern Polish history – reported on newspaper front pages all over the world, but… in different way that in Poland.
We will start in the city centre and explore sites in Łazarz and Jeżyce (districts in the Poznań dialect called “fyrtle”) – the main stages of the uprising.
Along the way, you will:
▪️ learn about the causes and consequences of the events
▪️ hear stories of the people involved
▪️ discover places where history happened
