Joyce was raised in Fresno and is the first in her family to graduate from college. A survivor of kidnapping, domestic abuse, and religious oppression, she recognizes that her journey is not unique; rather, it reflects a broader human experience. She believes that we all carry stories of adversity and shame that can prevent us from embracing our fullest, most empowered lives.
