Meeting the SunRise
Jessica Ballard Thiessen entered the renewables industry in the mid-2000s and has been an avid advocate for renewable and sustainable energy ever since. She started her own creative and technical solutions company, JessTCreate, in 2024 and just launched SunRise Fairs to bring knowledge sharing and sustainable opportunities through solar punk style and S.T.E.A.M. programming for all ages.
POWERdrinks monthly meet-ups provide a welcoming and casual opportunity to meet peers, share ideas and opportunities, and educate colleagues about projects and initiatives of interest to the group. We welcome women (including women of transgender experience) and individuals who identify as female, femme, non-binary, gender expansive, transgender, or a representative of a marginalized gender. All people working in a field related to energy, solar, or other renewables and interested in building a more diverse energy sector, are invited, as are students and developing professionals who are looking for perspectives on joining the clean energy sector.
POWERpnw is a program of the Oregon Solar Energy Education Fund (OSEEF) that is focused on building a community of individuals who identify as female and/or gender diverse in energy and renewables and increasing inclusiveness through initiatives around workforce development, community building, and empowerment.
