About this Event
Power yoga is a faster paced more intense style of yoga that combines the flow of Vinyasa (moving breath with movement in a continuous flow). Although this class is open to all levels, you should be aware that this class incorporates variations of full sun salutations. These help stimulate circulation as well as build body strength especially in the wrists and upper body as you move up and down from standing poses to floor poses. You will also have the option to add light weights to the flow to help target and strengthen specific muscles. You will end the class with deep stretches and a well deserved savasana for a well rounded powerful "work out" focused on building strength, as well as a "work in" that feeds the soul.
Benefit of this class: Combining weight training with yoga poses can help build strength in muscles that are often difficult to target with yoga alone. Studies indicate that adding weights to your workout can help improve bone health, joint stability, stimulate cardiovascular strength as well as provide flexibility and balance which is important at any age, but especially critical as we get older. Yoga also helps mental focus and concentration, calms the nervous system, and reduces stress and tension in the body.
