Join us to gain confidence and proficiency using power tools!Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast, homeowner, or an aspiring woodworker, developing skills with power tools is an important first step.
This class will provide a safety orientation and hands on practice for a wide range power tools. Though we may not get through all of them, tool options include: table saw, band saw, compound miter saw, belt sander, planer, jointer, drill press, many corded and battery operated tools (circular saw, jig saw, etc.), and a wide range of traditional hand tools.
Participants learn how to use each tool safely, understand its primary function, and select the appropriate tool for various tasks. Hands-on practice is a goal of the class - you will not be working on a project, but rather focusing on learning safe and efficient use of the tools.
This class is a great place to start for folks interested in attending Open Shop, or looking to gain skills for projects at home.
ALL skill levels are welcome! This is an introductory level class, so instruction will focus on shop safety and basic woodworking techniques. More advanced instruction can be provided as time allows.
