Event Description

Privilege is becoming an increasingly visible word in today’s vernacular, but do you understand how it works in your organization? We invite you to join us for a three-hour workshop that delves into the relationships between power, socialization, privilege, and equity. This is a hands-on, team-based* workshop where you will choose a program or initiative in your organization and collectively map how relationships of power are reinforcing inequities there.

During Training, you will:

  • Identify different expressions and faces of power
  • Utilize strategies to move through discomfort and stay engaged
  • Analyze power and influence in programs and projects
  • Co-create ideas and practices to shift towards shared power and leadership

Call to Action:

Uncomfortable conversations may seem daunting, but they are important for the non-profit sector to grow. While very few of us choose our privileges or power, we are in control of whether those concepts cause harm to ourselves or the community. Through this course, you can begin the journey to unraveling systematic injustices in your organization; and become another piece of a movement hundreds of years old. Register now to secure your spot!

Who’s Invited:

  • Executive Directors
  • Board Members
  • Community organizers
  • Volunteer coordinators
  • Activists attempting to unravel internalized racism
  • HR personnel
  • General staff

*A team can be a project team, a department team, cross-organizational groups, or anyone that wants to work on systems change together. If you do not have a team to attend and want to attend as an individual, just let us know so we can incorporate your participation.
