The Power of the Purse is one of the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre’s signature fundraising events, an inspiring afternoon that brings our community together in support of survivors of domestic abuse. Now in its 9th year, this highly anticipated luncheon has become a cornerstone of our fundraising efforts, uniting corporate partners, community leaders, and passionate supporters to make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.
Over the years, the Power of the Purse has raised more than CI$250,000 in critical funding for the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre. These funds directly sustain the Centre’s daily operations, ensuring that victims of domestic abuse have access to emergency shelter, crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, and essential support services.
This year, we're excited to welcome keynote speaker Katrina Cooke-Brownlee, a domestic abuse survivor and retired NYPD detective. Katrina joins POP’s esteemed repertoire of inspiring and esteemed international female speakers such as Erin Brockovich, Cheryl Strayed, Jeanette Walls, Jennifer Thompson, Amanda Lindhout, Trish Kendall, Liz Murray and Jenna Quinn.
The Power of the Purse is more than a luncheon; it is a powerful statement of solidarity and hope. Through the generosity of our sponsors and guests, this event fuels the life-saving work of the Crisis Centre and strengthens our collective commitment to building a safer Cayman for everyone. Join us for an unforgettable afternoon at the Ritz Carlton on Friday, May 8th, from 12pm to 3:30pm. Guests will enjoy a complimentary glass of wine, passed canapés, lunch, and a dessert, along with the opportunity to participate in a silent auction for designer handbags and win fabulous raffle prizes.
All proceeds will benefit the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre.
