Power & Motion Lab is a one-week STEM camp for ages 11–14 where campers step into the role of engineers-with-goggles, exploring motion, energy, and electricity through hands-on experiments and design challenges.Campers begin by investigating motion, how things move, how we measure that movement, and how forces affect speed and direction. Through guided experiments and build-based challenges, lab engineers analyze motion, test variables, and refine their designs using real data and observation.
Next, the lab comes alive with energy. Young engineers explore how energy is stored, transferred, and transformed, using interactive simulations and hands-on builds to see how power flows through a system. Then it’s time to flip the switch to electricity: campers learn how electrical energy is generated and controlled, and how it can be engineered to produce motion.
Throughout the week, inventors and problem-solvers work in teams to design, build, test, and improve their creations, just like real engineers. This camp emphasizes learning by doing, with engineering-style challenges instead of lectures. All activities are engaging, safe, and aligned with upper-elementary and middle-school science standards, giving junior engineers the freedom to experiment boldly, think critically, and unleash their inner mad scientist without blowing up the lab.
