Life is about more than getting by. This course will help people lead good lives where they are in control.
About this Event

Who is the training for?

This course is for anyone who supports people, or who receives support themselves. This includes:

• People who get support

• People who work delivering or planning social care support

• Policy makers

• Parents and carers

About the training

If you support people or get support yourself, this is essential training for you.

Life is about more than getting by. This course will help people lead good lives where they are in control. Learn how people who get support and the people who support them can work together and use their power to help people get the life they want.

  • Do you want to discover what we all need to live a good life, and how to make it happen?
  • Would you like to become more aware of the power and control that you have, and learn how to support more equal relationships?
  • Would you like to develop skills to help people take control?

If you answered ‘yes’ – come and learn with ARC’s training team. This course is very different to other training courses. You will learn from the real powerful and personal experiences of people who get support told live in the room - ARC Scotland Associates.

We use a range of approaches to help participants to learn together including films, stories, presentations, discussions and interactive exercises. People receiving, delivering or planning support will be learning together side by side, creating a unique and rich learning experience for everyone involved.

Learning outcomes
  • Greater personal understanding of why being involved in things matters, and what it takes to live a good life
  • Better understanding of how people can be supported to have more good experiences in their life
  • Greater awareness of the power we all have, and how to support a better power balance between people who get support and workers
  • Increased skills to recognise situations where people could take more control
  • Improved knowledge of the different levels of control, and awareness of how you / your organisation could improve
  • Ideas and tools to take away and use
  • Increased confidence, skills and enthusiasm to get power and control right!
