Post-Grad Community invites you to PEER gallery in Hoxton for the anticipated exhibition history is a living weapon in yr hand, a solo exhibition of new work by London-based artist, Onyeka Igwe.
The exhibition comprises of a two-screen film installation, A Radical Duet (2023), alongside film props and production materials. The film intertwines historical fact and fictional narratives to imagine historical figures inspired by the burgeoning movements for national liberation coming together in London to fight for independence.
You will get the chance to engage with the work, meet PEER's Director, Ellen Greig and join a discussion hosted by the (MACC) team from Chelsea College of Arts.
The MACC has worked with PEER gallery to curate a series of talks, events and workshops in response to Igwe’s work which runs throughout the exhibition. So this will be a great opportunity to learn more about how public programme works with artists, galleries and exhibitions. It will also be a chance for you to learn more about what a curator’s work entails from a team of emerging curators.
You will also be able to learn more about PEER gallery and the way they work as a not-for-profit free-to-access space for contemporary art located in the neighbourhood of Hoxton in East London. PEER's ethos is to place artists, young people and local communities at the heart of their internationally recognised programmes of exhibitions, commissions, talks and events, and workshops.
