About this Event
We long to return to normal, but **normal led to this**. To avert the future pandemics we know are coming, we MUST grapple with all the ways normal failed us. We have to build something better.
~Ed Yong, The Atlantic
Take a moment to ask yourself: Do you remember what it was like to be a young person? What were the pressures, pain points, and crises? What were the joys, fulfilling moments, heights? Now add to that COVID-19, social media, smartphones, unemployment, inflation, and growing inequality. These socio-political challenges have left our youth more isolated, disconnected, and hopeless than many of the previous generations. At the most basic level, we must learn to demonstrate love, respect, and connection with them. We must learn how to bring them in, not push them out; to design our systems for their participation and leadership. This is imperative for the future of our communities. In this workshop, you will learn strategies for assessing your own perspective and how it shapes your interactions and key strategies for interacting with and designing systems for the inclusion of young people in the city.
