From 2012-2014, artist Heather Bullach endeavored to create a series of portraits of 50 influential personalities from downtown Canton's Arts District. The portraits were displayed in a February 2014 solo exhibition at Translations Art Gallery, after which, most of the portraits were purchased and went into private collections. Since that time, Canton's Arts District has evolved and changed. Translations Art Gallery no longer has a brick and mortar presence in the district, and other arts venues have either disappeared or changed hands, surviving multiple reinventions.
My own studio/gallery has moved through a variety of locations in and around the arts district over the years. As I prepare to open my newest version of BZTAT Studios back in the heart of the Arts District (320 Cleveland Ave. NW), I want to reconnect with the Arts District’s early days by exhibiting as many of the portraits from that original show as possible.
There will be Preview Party on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 5pm - 8pm, then the exhibit will officially open for First Friday on June 5.
