What to Expect
- Warm-up Exercises: Fast-paced sketches to ‘get your eye in’ and get to know the model.
- Sustained Studies: Build up a series of detailed portraits with Hannah guiding you step by step.
- Techniques Covered:
- Tonal values & shading for volume
- Composition & narrative in portraits
- Line vs. tonal build-up
- Simple measurements & shadow identification
Hannah will demonstrate her own process, provide one-on-one guidance, and encourage experimentation with materials and approaches.
Materials
All basic materials are provided. Feel free to bring your own if you’d like to explore additional media. A packed lunch is optional.

About Your Tutor – Hannah Turner-Duffin
- Born London 1984, based in Brittany, France
- Studied at Turps Art School, Royal Drawing School, Falmouth College of Art
- Exhibited internationally, works in private and Royal collections
- 10+ years teaching experience across prestigious galleries and art schools
Hannah’s work combines painting, craft, textiles, and printmaking. Her playful, ritualistic approach inspires students to explore, experiment, and push beyond expectations.
