About this Event
This six-week course offers a supportive and enjoyable introduction to drawing and painting portraits. Whether you’re completely new to portraiture or looking to build confidence and refine your skills, you’ll be guided step by step through the process of creating a strong likeness.
Throughout the course, you’ll explore the key methods, techniques, and ways of looking that are essential to portrait work. The first half of the course focuses on drawing, using paper and charcoal (all provided), helping you develop observation skills, proportion, and structure. In the second half, you’ll move into painting, applying what you’ve learned to colour, tone, and expression. For this section, you’ll need to bring your own painting materials, and guidance on what to use will be offered earlier in the course.
The course is taught in a relaxed, encouraging environment, with plenty of individual support and time to experiment. Suitable for all levels, including complete beginners.
