About this Event
AIA hosted a tour of this building in August 2025, while under construction. With the project nearing completing, we would like to host another tour to showcase the amazing finished recently installed. These finishes include mahogany pews, custom tile walkways & sapele-wrapped roof trusses. This also includes the bell tower, that was not constructed during the last tour.
Overall Project Description:
This exciting project at the Porter-Gaud School includes (2) new building structures. The first building is a 600-seat Chapel with a balcony and attached education wing containing classrooms, offices & support space. The second structure is a 45 foot bell tower, replicating the original bell tower located on campus almost 100 years ago. This project is designed by McMillan Pazdan Smith (MPS) to pay homage & replicate the original Porter Military Academy Chapel, built in 1879 with exposed structural elements and intricate brickwork. Discussions will include the hurdles associated with replicating historical construction while adhering to modern day codes and building practices.
Please park in the construction trailer parking lot, across the street from the job site.

I hereby authorize the editing, duplication, reproduction, copyright, exhibition, broadcast and/or non-profit use and distribution of said photography and/or recording for purposes deemed suitable by the above referenced Sponsors/Organizers. I hereby waive any right to approve the finished products.
I hereby certify that I am competent to contract my own name insofar as the above is concerned. I have read the foregoing release, authorization and agreement, and by purchase of a ticket, I warrant that I fully understand the contents thereof.
