“Portage Path Mountain”, or “PP Mountain” for short, will be quite the climax of your elevation goal needs. We will park at the first, lefthand lot upon turning into Sand Run Parkway. This will be our “home base” where we refuel, replenish, and recover. A canopy tent will be up behind my vehicle, as well as a table for placing snacks, drinks, or any other needs.
The route is simple. Up the right handed sidewalk (1/4 mile) and back down against your foes. Each full hill repeat equals a half mile with 130ft of elevation. Oh yeah baby, it’s a goodie.
50 miles on PP Mountain will yield approximately 13,000 feet. This will take 200 hill repeats to reach. Of course, more distance will be accumulated from the trips to our vehicles, so 50 miles will come with less elevation. If that bothers you, I’m sure there will be a few highly motivated individuals that are willing to help you reach your promised 13,000ft 😁
Listen, all the cool kids are doing this. No question. Come have some fun climbing hills are sharing painful laughs! You’ll be there or I promise, you’ll be labeled a flat runner - the most devastating title earned 🥞
For the folks that are running Georgia Death Race on March 29th - This is a great simulation and is 3 weeks out. The Georgia Death Race yields approx 15,500ft in 73 miles (212ft / mile). PP Mountain will yield very similar. 13,000ft on 50 miles (260ft / mile).
Happy Running 🏃🏃♀️
