Hannah Permanetter aka Port Noo, Berlin-based by choice, is not only “one of the best singer-songwriters Munich has ever produced” (Dirk Wagner, SZ, 2017), but above all an artist who takes devilish delight in blending influences from a wide range of genres and eras. One moment she plays the acoustic guitar like Joni Mitchell, the next the electric guitar like Kim Deal, layering backing vocals à la Aretha Franklin, and diving into a synth bass line inspired by her late-90s heroes like PJ Harvey, Gomez and Beck. All of this combined with Hannah’s melancholic voice, her flair of pop melodies, and her self- and socially critical lyrics first leans warming and contemplative on your shoulder - only to tease a surprised smile onto your lips the very next moment. By the way Port Noo means “new harbour” in Irish and is also the name of a real place on Ireland’s west coast.
In autumn 2024, after seven years of raising two children, building a cultural café, and only occasionally performing in public, Hannah Permanetter took full control of her musical lifelines. Working independently and self-determined as both artist and producer in her improvised home studio, she began crafting new songs for Port Noo. In search of like-minded female collaborators, she found actresses Rebecca Motzel and Paula Leitner, who joined as backing vocalists. The spark of this electrifying mix quickly ignited, awakening bassist Barbara Mayer (Lemonbabies) from a 20-year musical slumber and also inspiring newly Berlin-based drummer and influencer Martina Barakoska.
The first single, "Everyone Is Sad," will be released on February 27, 2026, via the feminist Hamburg label Pussy Empire Recordings, followed by the EP "Standing On The Moon" on June 5, 2026.
