I have planned a hike which is approximately 5.39km from Flynn’s Beach to Tacking Point Lighthouse. The hike will take about 1.5 hours, or more with rest stops. It is the second half of the Port Macquarie Coastal Walk and will commence at Sandbox café at Flynn’s Beach at 7am.There are only two toilets along the way; the first at Flynn’s Beach and the second at Shelly Beach. There are no toilets at Tacking Point Lighthouse itself, only at Tacking Point Surf Life Saving Club on Lighthouse Beach. This is an additional walk down steep steps and along the beach. The only café along the route is Sandbox at Flynn’s Beach.
The hike consists of gravel pathways, beach walking, multiple inclines, declines and steps which lead up and down. This section of the Coastal Walk is less crowded and showcases pockets of rainforest with stunning ocean views.
Please note that snakes may be present on or around pathways at this time of the year. While we don’t need to wear gaiters, we need to be aware. Hiking boots or other enclosed shoes are most suitable.
This is a point-to-point hike, and you will need to arrange your own transport back to Flynn’s Beach carpark. Alternatively, there is a bus stop at Tacking Point Surf Club.
I look forward to another fun walk and lively chatter.
