I have planned a hike which is the complete Port Macquarie Coastal Walk. This hike will begin at Westport Park Boat Ramp at 7am and finish at Tacking Point Lighthouse. The distance is approximately 10km which will take about 2.5 hours to complete.
There are seven toilets along the way with the last one being at Shelly Beach. There are multiple coffee outlets up until Flynn's Beach (Sandbox cafe) and many places to sit and have a rest.
The first section of the hike consists of concrete and bitumen pathways and multiple steps which lead up and down. There is a steady incline from Oxley Beach up to Windmill Hill and a steady decline to get down to Flynn's Beach. From Flynn's Beach onwards there are gravel pathways, beach walking and more steps, inclines and declines.
The views of the Hastings River at the beginning and then the Tasman Sea are stunning. The second half of the walk is less crowded and showcases pockets of rainforest, jagged headlands and more seascapes.
Please note that snakes may be present on or around walkways, especially at this time of the year. Keep your eyes open as you walk and talk. Hiking boots or other enclosed walking shoes are most suitable.
This is a point-to-point hike, and you'll need to arrange your own transport back to Westport Park carpark. Alternatively, there is a bus stop at Tacking Point Surf Life Saving Club. You'll need to walk down the steps from the lighthouse and along the beach to get there.
I look forward to catching up with friends and meeting new ladies.
