In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, being invited into someone’s home was both a social honor and a carefully choreographed experience. Guests were typically received only on the main floor, a space intentionally designed to impress—where homeowners invested their finest materials, craftsmanship, and decorative details to signal taste, status, and hospitality. Grand parlors, richly carved woodwork, stained glass, and sweeping staircases were not simply beautiful; they were statements.Porches & Parlors invites you to step into that world once again. This spring, explore the main floors of several privately owned historic homes in Old Louisville, where original architectural details still speak to the ambitions and artistry of their early owners. In a rare and special opportunity, select homeowners have also agreed to open portions of their second floors, offering an even deeper glimpse into the private lives and layouts of these remarkable houses.
Your ticket also includes full access to all three floors of the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, the crown jewel of St. James Court and one of Louisville’s finest examples of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture. Together, these spaces tell the story of a neighborhood at the height of its elegance—where social ritual, architecture, and craftsmanship intertwined.
Join us for a leisurely afternoon of history, architecture, and springtime charm. All proceeds from Porches & Parlors directly support the preservation and interpretation of the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum and Old Louisville’s architectural legacy and tickets are non-refundable.
