POP UP: Zox Paintings

Renowned artist Zox, celebrated for his iconic contributions to music history—including the debut album cover art direction for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and the original painting for Steely Dan’s The Royal Scam—announces a series of oil-on-canvas portraits as he marks the 50th anniversaries of these landmark works in 2026.

The pop-up show will be on display at bG Gallery at Bergamot Station on May 3, 2026 3-7pm.

Zox’s exhibition Beyond Fame highlights 30 oil paintings exploring the human as icon. The show includes striking portraits of music legends such as Bob Marley, Billy Idol, Debbie Harry, Keith Richards and Jim Morrison, alongside mythological and contemporary figures like Cleopatra, Venus, Athena and original hybrids Mona LiChe Gold, Kiss of Freedom and The Dance.

This shift from the conceptual explorations in his acclaimed experimental films FUTURE OF ART (a 13-time award-winner of international film festivals with collaborator Cru) to the tactile depth of oil painting bridges the artist’s storied legacy in rock ‘n’ roll imagery.
