Join us on March 12th at 7:00 PM to explore the topic of civic education in a world of conflicts. Join us for a brief talk, Q&A, and discussion as we explore what migrant youth can teach us about citizenship and democracy.
Come early to grab free food courtesy of the Office of Community Engagement or to purchase food onsite. A wide range of beverages including coffee, tea, soft drinks, beer, wine, cocktails, and mocktails are also available for purchase. You are invited to stay late for informal networking.
ABOUT THE TALK:
Migration is reshaping communities and classrooms alike. Drawing on experiences teaching migrant youth in New York City and research on civic education across national contexts, this talk explores how young people who navigate multiple worlds complicate and enrich our understanding of citizenship, belonging, and democracy. The discussion invites educators, parents, and community members to reconsider what it means to teach and practice democratic citizenship in an interconnected yet turbulent world.
