A szolgálólány meséjét is jegyző Margaret Atwood 2005-ben megjelent Pénelopeia című regénye a trójai-ithakati mítoszkör sajátos újraértelmezése, amelyet itthon a Maladype Színház vitt színpadra magyar-makedón-lengyel koprodukcióként. Balázs Zoltán rendezése Pénelopénak, Odüsszeusz sokat tapasztalt, bátor és találékony feleségének személyes szemszögéből meséli újra az ismert ókori történetet, felerősítve a mítosz női aspektusait.

Maladype Theatre – Hungarian, North Macedonian, and Polish international co-production

Margaret Atwood’s 2005 novel The Penelopiad, written by the acclaimed author of The Handmaid’s Tale, is a unique reinterpretation of the Trojan-Ithacan mythological cycle. In Hungary, the work was adapted for the stage by the Maladype Theatre as a Hungarian–Macedonian–Polish co-production.
Directed by Zoltán Balázs, the production retells the well-known ancient story from the personal perspective of Penelope — the experienced, courageous, and resourceful wife of Odysseus — while emphasizing the female aspects of the myth.
