Join local artist Margaret Robertson in The Studio for an afternoon of printmaking. The workshop offers an alternative to traditional lithography by using lightweight polyester plates. Participants will work with a variety of mark making tools and produce a 12 x 12 cm image suitable for entry into Compact Prints. A stiff oil-based ink is applied to the polyester plate and images are printed though an etching press. Attendees will complete an edition of prints on quality printmaking paper.
The workshop is suitable for all levels of creative experience. Participants are asked to bring along sketches or images to use as references. All materials and equipment are provided, including aprons.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Margaret Robertson is a Gurambilbarra/Townsville-based artist and printmaker. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (James Cook University), visual arts degrees and certificates (Townsville College of TAFE) and a Certificate III, Information, Digital Media and Technology (Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE). Margaret has run numerous workshops and classes for Umbrella and local arts organisations, including artist book and printmaking workshops, for people of all ages. She is a long-standing member of Umbrella's Studio Access Group (USAG) and has been a volunteer Studio Facilitator for over 5 years.
