Join us for the Pollinator Count Party at the beautiful New Hanover County Arboretum! This fun, family-friendly citizen science event is designed to inspire sustainable gardening, raise awareness about pollinators, and collect valuable data on pollinator activity across the Southeast.
What You'll Do:
- Learn how to identify common pollinators with help from trained Extension Master Gardener volunteers.
- Select a flowering plant on the grounds and observe it for 15 minutes.
- Tally each pollinator that lands—yes, even if it’s the same one buzzing back for more!
- Submit your data online to contribute to regional pollinator research.
We Provide:
- Official data sheets and pencils
- Insect identification guides and basic training
- Shaded seating and hydration stations
- Free pollinator-friendly seeds while supplies last!
Additional Info:
- Children are welcome, but minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Bring your curiosity, a hat, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle.
- Whether you're a seasoned gardener, student, or just pollinator-curious—this is a great way to get involved!
RSVP today and be part of the buzz!
