A northern Mike Skinner, our generation’s Sleaford Mods over Underworld-like electronic
instrumentals and pure post punk stage presence. To come across a band so wildly obscure, yet all their words feel so familiar is remarkable. I have never smiled so much during a set.” The Everyday
Bradford, UK — Northern art-punk renegades Polite Bureaux are shaking up the UK underground
once again with the announcement of their debut album, Except You Skint — a biting play on words that captures the chaos, humour, and heartache of life in austerity Britain.
Fusing punk energy with electronic grit and working-class poetry, Polite Bureaux have been described as “a future generational album of electronic berserkness, post-punk riffs and charisma-
tinged references.” The Everyday
Known for their incendiary live shows and unapologetically northern storytelling, the group continue to rise from the Bradford DIY scene with a defiant message and a fiercely loyal following.
The Everyday Magazine writes that listening to their new album you “feel present in every room, every fucked-up situation ... an indirect attack on the righteous left wing academics.” The Everyday
Their track “LIDL FIDDLE”, featuring Emily Pilbeam, was featured on the BBC6Music Mixtape, introduced as “the
story of the town where everything is closing down — even the pound shop shut down.”
Now, with Except You Skint set for release later this year, Polite Bureaux are ready to make their next statement — equal parts social commentary, satire, and sonic experimentation. The record
delivers a raw and wry exploration of modern survival, told through pounding beats, jagged guitars, and kitchen-sink lyricism.
