About this Event

Join us this March for a special live podcast from the University of Huddersfield’s Healthy Housing Initiative (HHI), hosted by Research Fellow, Dr Tom Simcock. This thought-provoking event will welcome the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (NYFRS) Chief Fire Officer and members of the NYFRS team, who will bring their expertise and share valuable insights.

Healthy housing isn’t just about buildings - it’s also shaped by the organisations and people who prevent harm, respond to emergencies and support residents. Fire and Rescue Services sit at the heart of this system, working where housing and health risks meet.

In this live episode, we’ll explore station culture, leadership, and staff wellbeing - the banter, the bonds and the behaviours that shape life in the service. We’ll share information from recent scrutiny, discuss findings from our latest research with NYFRS and look at what positive culture looks like in practice.

Event Highlights:

  • Live Podcast Recording with Tom Simcock and NYFRS - be part of the conversation as it happens
  • Insights into organisational culture and wellbeing - in a safety-critical public service
  • Links to healthy homes and community safety – why workforce culture affects prevention and resident engagement
  • Interactive Q&A Session - your chance to ask questions and share perspectives
  • Refreshments Provided - because good conversation deserves good coffee

Join us to explore how strengthening culture and wellbeing in safety critical services drives safer, healthier homes and real cross sector change.
