PNA Council 21 is pleased to offer an intensive Polish language course beginning Sunday, May 31st, at 1:30 PM.The theme of this session is the formation of the past tense — a subject displaying all the hallmarks of oft-feared Polish morphology. Yet, students need not fear; Polish grammar exhibits learnable patterns and offers a semantic richness not readily expressed in English. One might conceive of the Polish past tense as the piecing together of puzzle pieces, where each fragment forms a grammatical portrait of tense, person, number, gender, and animacy.
Instruction will be led by Natalia Stefańska, a native speaker, Hopkins graduate student, and member of the Ojczyzna Polish Dancers, alongside class coordinator, PNA financial secretary and linguist, Ryan Kotowski.
Practica such as journal writing, dialogue, and conversation will cultivate communicative competence, whilst immediate feedback and grammatical workshopping will facilitate a measured progression towards mastery of the form, structure, and use of the Polish past tense.
Classes will be held at the PNA Annex, 510 S. Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21231.
Those wishing to enroll in our forthcoming session or obtain additional information are invited to review the attached flyer and/or direct correspondence to Ryan Kotowski at [email protected].
