Poets Mary Fox & Laurie Hollinger will step up to the mic at the Copper Chimney Lounge Poetry Series, on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 4 PM. Location: 1120 South Harrison Road, East Lansing — across from MSU & directly north of Trowbridge Shopping Center.An Open Mic will follow the Social Break! Participants wishing to share a poem in the Open Mic are invited to throw their names in the basket at the Gate Table.
Mary Fox, a Detroit-born poet, teacher, and storyteller, is the author of two chapbooks of poetry (Waiting for Rain and Reading Lessons). She is known in the Lansing area as a performance poet as well as a page poet and you can find her work within several anthologies, literary magazines, and posted videos. She works with Lansing Area writers to help other find their voices and to promote poetry and the spoken word including The Poetry Room and Writing at the Ledges. When she isn’t writing or performing, she loves swimming, spending time with her family, reading and attending area entertainment and performances with friends.
Laurie Hollinger of Lansing is a recovering journalist, poet, writer, performer, and founding member of Voices of the Revolution, a dynamic spoken word group focused on social justice issues. Her work has appeared in the Lansing State Journal, Greater Lansing Woman, Lansing City Pulse, and the anthology My Secret Lansing. She serves as the Assistant Director of the RCAH Center for Poetry at Michigan State University.
The reading is open to the public. A donation of $5 is suggested. There is ample free parking behind the church.
