Liza Wolff-Francis, the 8th Poet Laureate of Carrboro, N.C. (2023-2025), will lead a special poetry writing workshop titled "Writing Poetry To Make This World An Even More Beautiful Place" at Dare Arts on Saturday, April 11 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.Poetry can be used for healing or catharsis, to be heard, to strengthen and build community, and for fun, focus, reflection, and relaxation. Each person has something to say and everyone who wishes to, can read and write poetry.
In this workshop, participants will read poems together, talk about the craft of poetry and what it can do, and write together to uncover the heart of what they wish to say at this time in their lives. During the workshop, participants will look at image, line breaks, the five senses, and attention to detail in poetry. Those who wish to share will be encouraged to do so in a supportive environment. This is a generative workshop, and each participant will come away with three or more drafts of poems to continue to work on. Come write with us, share, and use your poetic voice to make this world even more beautiful.
