A PU Poet hits different. Welcome to the club — it’s not gifted, it’s earned.
This season is about storytelling, truth, and presence on the mic. Poets selected from auditions will be considered for upcoming local and national Poetry Unplugged showcases.
This is not a slam. It is a competition. We are looking for creativity, stage presence, content, and delivery.
Seasoned poets are welcome and encouraged to come out and do their thing. This is the season of storytelling.
AUDITION GUIDELINES — POETS
• Perform one original poem
• Time: 3–5 minutes
• Group poems must be no longer than 5 minutes total
• If called back, you may be asked to perform a second poem
MCs must perform a cappella (no beats or backing tracks)
SINGERS / MUSICIANS / ACOUSTIC ARTISTS
• Covers are allowed
• Must provide your own instrument or setup
• Microphone and speakers will be provided
• We are not responsible for providing music tracks or equipment
