In the Reset Slam, every round is a clean slate.
No carried scores. No momentum advantage.
Each poem stands on its own moment.
FORMAT
- 12 poets
- 3 rounds
- Each round resets to zero
- Original poetry only
CONTENT & PERFORMANCE
- No profanity or vulgar language (CLEAN CONTENT ONLY)
- No hate speech or explicit content
- No props, costumes, music, or recorded sound
- No changing of clothes, removal of jackets, hats, etc.
- Voice and body only
THE CLOCK
- First two rounds: 3-minute time limit
- Final Round: ONE MINUTE POEM (With a 10 sec grace period)
- 10-second grace period all rounds
- 0.5-point deduction for every 10 seconds over time
JUDGING
- 5 judges, randomly selected
- Score range: 0.0 – 10.0
- Highest and lowest scores dropped
- Remaining 3 scores added

- Creativity
- Content
- Performance

THE ROUNDS
ROUND ONE — Reset
- Random draw order
- All 12 poets perform with 3 minute time limit and 10 sec grace period
- Top 6 advance
- Scores reset after the round
ROUND TWO — Reset
- Random draw order
- 6 poets perform a new poem with 3 minute time limit and 10 sec grace period
- Top 4 advance
- Scores reset after the round
ROUND THREE — Final Reset
- Random draw order
- 4 poets perform a ONE MINUTE TIME LIMIT POEM with 10 sec grace period
- Clean slate
- Highest score wins the Slam
TIES
- Highest total of all 5 scores from that round wins
- If tied: All 5 scores will be added to break the tie
- If there is still a tie: Another one minute sudden death match to break the tie
ARRIVAL
ALL POETS MUST BE THERE NO LATER THAN 7:15. IF YOU ARRIVE AFTER THE DRAW YOU CAN NO LONGER COMPETE.THERE WILL BE NO ENTRY FEE REFUNDS.
