In Conversation with Fernando Denis, “The Invisible Creature in William Turner’s Twilight”.

Instituto Cervantes, in collaboration with the Embassy of Colombia, presents a literary recital of poems by the renowned Colombian poet Fernando Denis. Fernando will talk about his work and the poems he has written inspired by the landscape painter William Turner, in conversation with the Colombian Ambassador, HE Mr Roy Barreras. In Spanish with simultaneous interpretation into English.

Fernando Denis was born in Ciénaga, Magdalena, Colombia. His poetry sits at the transition between the pictorial image and the surrealists, which has led many to consider him an imaginary poet, a disciple of the first Pound. He is the creator and director of the Zenócrate collection of Hispanic American literature.

His books of poems include: La criatura invisible en los crepúsculos de William Turner (1997); Ven a estas arenas amarillas (2004), El vino rojo de las sílabas (2007), La geometría del agua (2009), La mujer que sueña en las murallas (2013), Diálogos con la escultura secreta. Antología personal (2013), Los mosaicos de Babilonia (2015), Alguien enciende las lámparas de octubre (2018); Las palabras son criaturas luminosas (2019), Las diatribas de un color imposible (2020), Ven a estas arenas amarillas. Antología Poética (2022).

The audience will have the opportunity to ask the poet questions about his creative process and Turner's influence. After the reading, a cocktail will be offered to the audience.

This event is aimed at an audience interested in the poetry of Fernando Denis, and the art of the painter William Turner. It is open to the general public.

En conversación con Fernando Denis “La criatura invisible en los crepúsculos de William Turner”

El Instituto Cervantes en colaboración con la Embajada de Colombia presenta un recital literario de poemas del reconocido poeta colombiano Fernando Denis que hablará de su trabajo y de los poemas que ha realizado inspirados en el pintor paisajista William Turner. En conversación con el Embajador de Colombia, SE Sr. Roy Barreras. En español con traducción simultánea al inglés.

Fernando Denis nació en Ciénaga, Magdalena, Colombia. Su poesía es un tránsito entre la imagen pictórica y los surrealistas, lo cual hace pensar a

muchos que este es un poeta imagista, discípulo del primer Pound. Es creador y director de la colección Zenócrate de literatura hispanoamericana.

Entre sus libros de poemas destacan: La criatura invisible en los crepúsculos de William Turner (1997); Ven a estas arenas amarillas (2004), El vino rojo de las sílabas (2007), La geometría del agua (2009), La mujer que sueña en las murallas (2013), Diálogos con la escultura secreta. El público tendrá la oportunidad de hacer preguntas al poeta sobre su proceso creativo y la influencia de Turner. Después del recital se ofrecerá un cocktail a los asistentes.
