Join us at the library for a powerful evening of poetry featuring Beverly Matherne and Lisa Fosmo.Beverly Matherne—NMU Professor Emerita, former director of the MFA Program in Creative Writing, longtime poetry editor of Passages North, and most recent U.P. Poet Laureate Emerita—is an internationally acclaimed Cajun poet, translator, and editor with multiple bilingual collections to her name.
Lisa Fosmo, a poet and writer based in Escanaba, is the author of Mercy Is A Bright Darkness (Golden Dragonfly Press). Her work appears widely in journals and anthologies in the U.S. and abroad, and she currently serves as Vice President of the U.P. Poet Laureate Foundation.
Celebrate the art of poetry with two remarkable Upper Peninsula voices. This event is free and open to all, and is sponsored by the Friends of the Escanaba Public Library.
