About this Event
Poetry of the Wild: Writing from Place, Sharing with Intention
Join us in person for a laid back, welcoming and reflective poetry workshop open to students and community members of all experience levels.
Together we will explore how places carry memory and how attention becomes language. Through guided prompts, participants will write a series of short poems connected to one meaningful location across time-past, present, and imagined future. No prior poetry experience is required; this workshop is designed for beginners, curious writers, and anyone who has ever felt connected to a place.
We will also gently discuss how poems are shared in the world - from private writing to readings and publications - and how to do so with intention rather than pressure.
Participants will leave with new writing, practical tools for continuing a writing practice, and a deeper understanding of how poetry helps us notice, remember, and connect.
Please bring something to write with and a willingness to slow down.
