Michael Steven is an award-winning poet from Tāmaki Makaurau.
He is the author of three collections, all published by Otago University Press, and several shorter chapbooks. His poems appear regularly in major journals and also in Ōrongohau|Best New Zealand Poems for 2020 and 2022. He has been described by reviewer Elizabeth Morton as being ‘a man apart’. He lives in a shed somewhere in Waitākere.
Dubtext has been going for over 15 years, as a duo, a trio, a quartet and now as a solo techno/synth artist.
Spoken word has always been a core part of the sound, either through samples or collaborations with poets. Expect modern electronic beats and sonic variety.
Lawrence will be inviting poets to read/ perform a poem alongside his beats.
