I am so is excited to partner with Hoboken Historical Museum & Poet in Residence Danny Shot for Poetic Pages: Where Black Poets Speak. ๐๐คThis is a special tier of Mocha Mic with Millie platform that uplifts Black poets, preserves their stories, and creates space for connection and reflection.
Weโll feature three incredible local published Black poets sharing their publishing journeys, creative processes, and the depth of Black experience through their work.
Featured Poets
Don Krypton -Poet, comedian, author of Ill-Logical, and General Manager of Evoluculture. A driving force in New Jerseyโs poetry scene. โก He is also a founding member of the Newark Poetry Council and has performed and collaborated across the state.
Katrina Powell- Poet, Katrina Powell author of Was Voiceless is a Jersey City native and a survior of acute myeloid leukemia. Her writing centers black woman empowerment, spirtuality and survival. She leads community advocacy groups and๐ป๐๏ธ she uses her poetry and work to reinvigorate her community and reconnect those with hardship back on their path.
Justin Johnson -Author, poet, and music artist (aka Johnson Soldout), blending words and music to tell his story. ๐ถ He self-published Scattered in 2021 and continues to release poetry and music that explores identity, creativity, and life in New Jersey.
