Pocket Cinema is a one-week, hands-on filmmaking lab where teens learn how to create short films using the most powerful tool they already own — their phones. Designed for a nonprofit arts center setting, this program blends creativity, collaboration, and self-expression while introducing young people to the fundamentals of filmmaking in an accessible, low-pressure environment. Participants will work in small teams to write, shoot, and edit original short films, culminating in a celebratory screening at the end of the week.Date and Time: April 6–10, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Location: Classes on April 6, 7, 8, and 9 will be in the Cal Club; the final class on April 10 will be hosted in the CCAE Admin. Board Room
Price: $150 for the full weeklong workshop
Student Age: 13–17 (18-year-olds may join if they are still enrolled in high school)
Experience Level: Beginner-friendly (no prior film experience needed)
Equipment Required: Smartphone (iOS or Android), headphones, and storage space on device
