Hi 👋 Welcome to CCL Huntsville's annual hands-on advocacy training. We’re a group of concerned citizens who are educating our Alabama community about climate solutions, and encouraging our elected officials to pass bipartisan legislation. We believe that the only way to tackle this problem is together. Are you worried about climate change, and ready to do something about it? Join our meeting. We’d welcome your help.
What we do:
- Start productive conversations about climate impacts in our community
- Build support for action with community leaders
- Meet with our members of Congress to advocate for effective solutions
Join our Climate Advocate Workshop to:
- Learn about our local group and our approach to advocacy
- Meet with other concerned neighbors and friends
- Hear how to join in and find your role in our local group
Attendance is not a commitment to join!
We will be meeting in the Large Community Room 132 (which is on the opposite side of the library & cafe) at the North Huntsville Library, 3011 Sparkman Drive, Huntsville, AL 35810.
Arrive to join us when the library opens at 9am. We'll do a super fast setup with everyone's help, sign-in, coffee, refreshments, and start as close to 9am as we can.
Conservatives, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), students, environmentalists, and "non-environmentalists", are all especially encouraged to attend!
A little more info about our organization:
The political moment can feel pretty volatile right now. Between everything happening in the world, a lot can feel out of our control. But one thing isn’t — how we show up in conversations with the people who make decisions.
That’s why CCL is training volunteers in these areas:
- understanding how people form beliefs and what actually motivates them,
- building communication skills that create trust instead of conflict, and
- helping our decisionmakers move step-by-step toward climate leadership instead of expecting big leaps all at once.
A lot of groups focus mainly on pressure. Our approach is different — we work to change the conditions that allow lawmakers to act, by making sure climate action feels important, feasible, and politically safe in their world. That’s what keeps doors open and lets real progress keep moving forward, no matter who’s in office.
This workshop is hosted by the Huntsville, AL CCL chapter. We encourage those who live in AL Congressional District 5 and everyone in Northern Alabama to attend.
