We invite you to join us in a public outdoor gathering in Dublin for Grianstad an Gheimhridh (Winter Solstice, literally “the stopping of the sun in Winter”). We will celebrate and reflect on the turning of the year, the return of the sun, and the promise of brighter days to come. When? Meet at 8.15am on Saturday 21st December.
Where? Martello Tower, Sandymount Strand
After meeting at the Martello Tower, we will walk out onto the strand for our gathering. Please dress appropriately. (The tide will be out, but the strand will be damp).
This gathering is weather dependent.
Sunrise is at 8.38am. Solstice is at 9.20am.
Bring a noise making instrument if you like - drum, bodhrán, shaker, hand cymbals, etc.
Our gathering is open to all. PLR is inclusive of all Pagan paths.
We are a LGBTQIA+ friendly organisation.
There is no charge for this event.
Children are very welcome but must be supervised at all times by parents or guardians.
If you would like to be actively involved in the ritual, please let us know. Vinnie Woods and Fionnuala O'Regan will be co-ordinating the ritual.
