ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Marike paints to honour the places that shape her — the soft fields of her childhood, the rugged forests of Muskoka, Ontario, and the sweeping skies and mountains that now surround her. Each landscape carries its own quiet story, and she is drawn to the way light reveals those stories in fleeting, luminous moments.
Her creative practice is an expression of gratitude. She believes the natural world is a gift, and painting is her way of responding to that gift with attention and care. The act of making art becomes a form of prayer: a way of acknowledging beauty, fragility, and the presence of something sacred in the everyday.
Through oils and layered acrylics, colour, and atmospheric depth, she seeks to create paintings that feel both familiar and contemplative — places where viewers can pause, breathe, and remember their own connection to the land.
