ArtsXchange is excited to create an opportunity for seasoned writers to delve into the art of playwriting. Whether you’re an experienced playwright or a curious beginner, this workshop will provide a supportive environment for honing your skills, exploring new ideas, and creating compelling narratives for the theater. This eight week (2 hours per week) course on the basics of playwriting for seniors will cover such aspects of the art as developing the story; structuring the play; developing character(s); focusing on dialogue; imagining the set. Over the eight weeks we will also watch a recording of at least one play; read and analyze the scripts of several plays (one-acts and more); as well as write our own one- or two-act play. To culminate the eight-week session, we will host a Writers’ Gala where each of the playwrights will enjoy a staged reading of his or her play.Schedule:
