About this Event
Note: all income from this event will be split evenly between two survival campaigns of families surviving/fleeing gen0cide. Proceeds will go to beloved and cherished . A transparency report will be shared with all registrants and will also be posted on Yejin's private Instagram page!
So many of us have had to abandon or repress parts of ourselves to survive this painful life under racial capitalism, white supremacy and cisheteropatriarchy. During this 2-hour session, co-facilitators Robin and Yejin will briefly share their own relationship to their identities, body, movement, and joy. Robin will then lead folks through a warmup and some imaginative dance therapy-inspired prompts. Yejin will walk folks through a fun TikTok dance (registrants will get to vote and choose which dance to learn), and then all the cuties can move freely during a dance party!
Robin (they/them) is an effervescent creative arts & dance therapist, and Yejin (she/they) is an anti-oppression facilitator and embarrassing elder millennial who does TikTok dances in anime cosplay! Both are interested in making sweet space for values-aligned QTPOC (queer, trans people of color) and active co-conspirators to connect with their bodies, and to nourish their softness, lightness, and silliness.
For the workshop, please prepare by taking care of any bio needs and having water nearby for quick and easy hydration!

This space is designed to center:
- Folks of intersecting marginalized identities & active co-conspirators against oppressive systems/structures;
- Cuties who have ignored their lightness, softness and wholeness in response to oppression;
- Sweeties who want to balance their commitment to anti-oppression, abolition, anti-colonialism, anti-facism, etc. with movement, dance, and silliness!
A few notes from the facilitators:
- Zoom: This event will be taking place via Zoom Meeting and captions will be enabled. There will be no recording of the session. We encourage people to participate with cameras on to facilitate co-created movement! However, we also understand that some folks may not have access to a camera, and we support everyone’s autonomy in determining whether they feel comfortable or safe enough to be on camera.
- Tickets: Prices are tiered based on level of financial comfort and ease. Free Community Tickets are reserved for folks of intersecting marginalized identities who experience financial hardship. If you can pay, you should pay. We trust people to self-identify what they are able to afford. And remember! All proceeds are going to two survival campaigns!
- Finally, people will be able to share accommodations needed in order to participate in a way that would feel good (e.g. choreo adjustments for disabilities, lots of breaks, etc.)
~~~
There is an opportunity for folks to provide a donation to sponsor free tickets. At the moment, there are 25 free community tickets for folks of intersecting marginalized identities who experience financial hardship. For every contribution of $20 we can add another free ticket, so please consider donating!
Robin Mele (they/them) is a licensed creative arts psychotherapist who has a masters degree in dance/movement therapy and is currently working on an inpatient psychiatric unit with adolescents and children. As a biracial and nonbinary person of Taiwanese and white american ancestry, their work foregrounds intersectionality and the flexibility to explore the in-between. Creatively, Robin also has a background in various forms of movement, including dance, yoga, and ice skating, which allows them to communicate with patients in ways that traditional psychotherapy does not utilize.
Yejin Lee (she/they) is a Korean-American anti-oppression practitioner, coach and consultant who facilitates equity-based transformation processes. Centering people of intersecting marginalized identities who experience oppressive harm at work in their work, they support building practices and eco-systems of care in service of survival and liberation. As a result of their recent return to queerness and her current explorations around their neurodivergence, Yejin seeks to make room for wholeness, softness, and lightness in and beyond their work. They are an uncertified silly goose, and love spending time dancing in anime cosplay on TikTok, playing drums, gardening, hiking, and building community around their special interests!
